2016 White House in Photographs

Creative Tidbits for 2017

I’m always thrilled when someone comes out with this series. Last year it was Getty. This year, Medium seems to have grabbed the limelight.
Pete Souza, Chief White House Photographer writes :
For the eighth and final time, I am presenting my annual Year in Photographs. All of them were taken either by me or a White House photographer on my staff. For many of the images, I’ve included the backstory behind the image to provide further context or to share why that image was particularly important to me.

Problem: Design cannibalism.

Creative Tidbits for 2017

The proliferation of ‘inspiration sites’ has created an environment where design can be too reliant on surface-level visuals and not enough on the concept and strategy behind the work. Many creators are no longer looking at design’s rich history or considering the future opportunities to elevate a concept when formulating their research. As a result, design trends are recycling at astronomical rates, all at the expense of true meaning.
This lack of conceptual thinking strips the work of its ability to effectively communicate, which renders it relatively worthless to both the client and the designer.

In going back and reading the logs and specs in the Design Center I discover a number of readers have earmarked this page as their favorite Photoshop Madness page.
In August of 2010, I wrote : We’ve survived three very hot, hot, hot months, along with three flaming editions of Photoshop Flaming Text Effects, and now it’s time to cool down a bit for the 16th Annual Fonts Festival.
