Master of Digital Arts

Congratulations to all our graduates of design this year — for career advancement, you may want to consider a Master of Arts in Digital Arts. This school and curricula looks very promising

Vector vs Bitmap for dummies

There have been a lot of articles over the years about resolution and the differences between vector art and bitmapped graphics. When this article was submitted by IconLibrary we immediately liked this approach as one of the more friendly ones. See: Vector vs Bitmap for dummies

Graphic Elements and Illustration

When Shauna Scott sent me this collection, I said “Oh no! Not another vector clip art collection!” Fortunately, what I discovered is a rare collection of knock-out Adobe Illustrator vector art that definitely deserves a serious look.

Jumpstart Creative Ideas

Creative people continually face the all-to-familiar design world problems of “idea doldrums” and “creative burnout.” Here are just a few pointers of where to go for a creative jumpstart

Digital Photos on the road

So, here we go — off for a road trip, and one thing you must have along is your digital camera and digital cam-corder, as well as these proven tips for getting the best shots

Shooting with iPhone ?

Using your iPhone for photos this summer? This video recording capability enables users to record high-quality videos on their iPhone and share them instantly on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter or share via Mail.

Design: Logo Design Processes

This month’s graphic design quest gathers some of the better tutorials for designing logos. We begin with an excellent tutorial by Chuck Green, then show you others that will help you develop your own design processes for designing logos

Another publishing revolution?

From all indications of social networking, cloud computing, and hand-held devices like the iPhone and iPad, we may be facing yet another publishing revolution. I watched as desktop publishing took over, let’s see where we’re going today

Digital marketing transformation

WATCH OUT if you’re a traditional ad agency with a limited suite of standardized creative and media services. You’re likely to have less budget, control and influence with your client. This is an essential report from CMO

Business: Getting it Done

You are running late … vacation is coming … you’ve got to get work out the door before you leave … what do you do? Author Michelle LaBrosse shows you how to eliminate project decelerators and remove barriers to speed!

Tech Support Anxiety

When was the last time you called tech support? Here’s a new study showing high anguish and anxiety with computer tech support due to long lag times, lack of ready resolution. What’s your opinion?

International Piracy Watch List

In an effort to combat international copyright piracy by calling attention to countries where piracy has reached alarming levels, the Congressional International Anti-Piracy Caucus has released their “Piracy watch list” … BEWARE!

Kiosk web browser for Mac

Looking for a safe, automated web browser for Kiosk use — and you’re using a Mac? The field is very narrow, but I think this is the one to take a look at …

Graphics of the Americas Presentations

In case you didn’t make it to the February Graphics of the Americas conference, here’s an education opportunity for graphic designers and print specialists — the conference session presentations are available for download …

Design Bookshelf: iPhone apps for Profit

This month’s Design Bookshelf looks at two essential books for designing and producing iPhone apps. Both the iPhone App Development Missing Manual and the “iPhone Apps: No C or Cocoa” books will gear you up to enter this wildly lucrative industry!

Forums: Help for ailing web sites

We have a number of readers who want to have some input on their web site designs … when you enter the Web Reviews area of DTG Forums, please glance to the right column and find the readers who have zero or few replies. I’m sure they will appreciate your constructive criticism. Thanks!

Photoshop Help?

just the same… the Photoshop 911 Emergency room could use your help as well … zip on in there and answer some questions — I know you know the answers! Help out a fellow Photoshop user

The Hardest working man in Photoshop

Yes, I think that could be true! Qwasian from Team Brinkz is one of the more prolific artists I’ve seen — he’s uploaded over 100 pieces to thePhotoshop Gallery at Photoshop 911, and they keep on coming. I’m mentioning him this month because his latest uploads show a marked improvement — the designs and production are just getting better and better — See the “Welcome Summer” (Flyer Design) and “BoxAndWon.com” (Flyer Design) pieces as compared to earlier pieces. I think you will enjoy The Hardest working man in Photoshop

What’s in your folio?

Don’t forget — we invite you to show off your works as well — all DTG readers enjoy seeing the works of others. Be sure to include your web site link! Either post them to the Photoshop Gallery (link above) or just click our submissions form.

Art is where you find it

Our Facebook Group has a new department where you are invited to upload “found” art — whether it’s a package at the grocery store, a scene you passed on the street, or even something you’ve found on the web. There are some nice items there now — and I believe this will be an area to keep your eye on in the future…

As for June…
Have a great month, and stay in touch.

Thanks for reading…
