As marketers, we all love written content – it’s a fantastic way to effectively connect with consumers, provide them with valuable information and keep delighting them once they are customers.
      But sometimes, audiences want something more than articles and blogs. This is where custom infographics come into play. After all, 65 percent of the population are considered to be visual learners, according to the University of Alabama at Birmingham. This information can be shown as images with various data points in infographics, or it can also be a brand’s overall message in the design elements it uses.

Best album cover art 2016: See the nominees of the Best Art Vinyl Awards

The search for the most creative and well-designed record cover art is underway. Nominees for the 12th year of the Best Art Vinyl awards have been announced. The voted winner will sit alongside amazing designs by Dave Stansbie and Audrey Powell for David Gilmour’s 2015 album, and Dan Hilier’s design for Royal Blood in 2014.
      Design experts and previous winners have curated a shortlist of 50 covers from 2016 for music artists including Rihanna, James Blake, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Underworld – not to mention the late music legends David Bowie and Leonard Cohen.

John Jennings on Graphic Arts and Afrocentricism

Jennings has quite the impressive resume. He is a studied scholar and professor that has taught on several panels for black perspectives in media and Afrocentricism.
      This year he won a prestigious Eisner Award for Comics and is currently working on the (Harvard University) Nasir Jones Hiphop Fellowship for Spring of 2017.

      Fonts In Use is an independent archive of practical typography, indexed by typeface, format, industry, and various typesetting styles and techniques … This talk took place on October 4th at The San Francisco Public Library as part of Type@Cooper West’s Letterform Lecture series. The recording was made possible by a generous sponsorship from Adobe Typekit.
