Our special treat this week was meeting back up with Gemma O’Brien after so many years! She’s become quite the celebrity in the lettering world! Congrats, Gemma! But there’s lots more! Have fun . . .

DT&G News and views for graphic designers

If you’re like us — and love stylish hand lettering, you’re gonna love Gemma O’Brien! Watch as Gemma O’Brien paints the gallery walls to create a site specific installation for Fremantle Arts Centre.
Gemma is an acclaimed designer and artist specialising in hand-lettering, typography and illustration. Over the past four years her lettering work clients have included Woolworths, The New York Times, Vodafone, SBS, Smirnoff, Canon and Taronga Zoo. As the handwritten word becomes increasingly sparse in the digital age, the craft of lettering is deviating away from the traditional context of graphic design and into an art form in itself.
