60 Seconds #324: Getting a job in the Web Design field takes a little more than an email

Now that so many have graduated from design schools in the past few weeks, it’s time to hit the streets looking for a job. I understand job hunting is tough these days, so it is ever amazing to see how many really, really BAD solicitations we receive. It’s amazing. Here another example of a really horrible solicitation.

Fred Showker's 60-Second Window Job hunting is tough these days, I guess, so it is ever amazing to see how many really, really BAD solicitations we receive. Just about every day, someone wants to work for DTG Magazine or the Design Center. The SEO people are particularly aggressive in trying to get us to sign the Design Center site over to them for optimizing.

Some of these are kind of pitiful, and for the most part, all of them can use some lessons on how to write a letter…

I felt so sorry for this guy. So, I immediately click the reply button to write him back, with a plan.

To date, there has been no response. Evidently he cannot do this kind of programming, or didn’t really want a job. I don’t know.

Folks, if you’re going to send mass, unsolicited emails to get a job, you should FIRST be sure you can deliver what you say. Otherwise, your email is just spam — and should be treated as such.

And, thanks for reading
