60-Seconds #321: Google smites millions of the unwashed, unmobile at Mobilegeddon! REPENT or ye shall surely perish!

I’ve been getting email from web designers and ISPs from India to Indianapolis, like late night TV evangelists with bad hairdos, counting down to what they are calling the Mobilegeddon. The call to arms is rolling out : judgment day is tomorrow, April 21. It’s so compelling — blogs are humming, web masters are panicking and there’s even a hashtag #mobilegeddon. I just had to do some research and find out why the whole web world is once again bowing down to the latest scriptures of Google. 60-Seconds #321: Google smites millions of the unwashed, unmobile at Mobilegeddon! REPENT or ye shall surely perish!

60-Seconds #322 : I got trapped by Google Adsense & false advertising

Do you remember when Google came out with Penguin, how they would penalize any site with ‘false’ links? Then all this talk about mobilegeddon, and how Google has become the internet police and the ministry of information — all about ‘honesty’ on the web. Google’s “honesty” took a big hit when I wanted to contact a Tupperware sales representative in my own town. But, the search results were the last thing I expected — and certainly the last thing I wanted. 60-Seconds #322 : I got trapped by Google Adsense & false advertising

GraphicConverter rises to yet greater heights with the latest upgrade from Lemke Software

From the mid 1980s until well into the 1990s, all of my workshops and seminars all around the country were conducted using GraphicConverter. First, there was no other “slide show” software that would run on the first Mac laptop — which was actually an Outbound. Yes, this was before powerbooks. The sorter helped me sort and organize, the graphics engine let me edit, modify and build titling, and the slidshower helped me click through my presentations. And the slides were so beautiful, nobody ever wanted to see another PowerPoint. Some day, I’d like to meet Thorsten Lemke. He’s the hardest working man in software — he keeps on working and improving GraphicConverter’s awesome capabilities. Now, here comes the next version . . . Advertising Update : broadcast vs. print, Sensory Marketing, Facebook will screw you, reader attention, not clicks

The ad industry has been screwing their clients ever since the first online ad was served in 1995. The ad industry prostituted itself so badly they got the cost of ads to almost nothing or free. So to back peddal, they’ve had to devise all kinds of contorted ripps to make money while still sticking it to the publishers. All that is about to get worse as they bring in attention advertising.
* Broadcasters appear to have won — as newspapers see few gains in ad spending
* Sensory Marketing Is the Next Frontier in Mobile Advertising
* Why native advertising won’t overtake traditional ads — yet
* Selling advertisers on reader attention, not clicks
* How Facebook plans to control digital advertising

Could Pixelmator Watercolor Painting Technology be the one that replaces Photoshop?

I remember a small program that came along a quarter of a century ago that just blew everyone away. I see hundreds of start-ups — they come and they go — but when I see Pixelmator, I’m scratching my head wondering if I’m looking at the next big thing . . . could this be the beginning of the end of Photoshop? Could Pixelmator Watercolor Painting Technology be the one that replaces Photoshop?

Web Design Update: Mobilegeddon, Amorality, Uber, SEO, Web trends and more!

Well the Web jungle drums have been pounding and pounding on just about anyone who will listen with news of Mobilegeddon. The drop-dead date came and went but the world didn’t end. Google is doing their best to keep a straight face, but there are a lot of whiners and moaners out there. Either fix it or stop moaning.
I did my own survey last night, and I’m continuing to check out various web sites and I’m finding some, like Adobe and Behance fail miserably, when others like Mashable actually do work. The sad news is when they work, they suck. Take a beautiful site, pump it through Google’s blackmail grinder and the mobile version comes out sucking. LOL.

Recreate the magic of instant printing, with your mobile
device and the Polaroid Zip Photoprinter

We’ve been waiting for this . . . a pocket-sized device allows you to instantly print your photos from today’s most popular smartphones and tablets … and it’s very cool! Who thought of it? Polaroid, of course, the first and only people to invent instant printing. Print and share images anywhere, using your modern mobile device and the Polaroid Zip Instant Photoprinter . . . and I’ll bet you’re going to want one!
