What does February Mean to You?
While we celebrated the birth date of Martin Luther King in January, the Reverend King is also widely recognized as the icon for Black History Month. It began back in February of 1926 when Dr. Carter G. Woodson and others set aside on week in observance of the achievements and contributions by Black Americans. In 1976 it was expanded to the entire month. This intentionally also coincides with the birth month of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass, two great champions of racial equality.
Even more interesting is the fact that February 14 is not only Valentine’s day (which celebrates two Christian martyrs whom were beaten and beheaded on the 14th, AD 269) but is also National Read To Your Child day and the opening day for both National Condom Week and International Flirting Week! Ain’t that a gas!
So even though you’ve got a very busy month, when you’re not flirting or reading to the kids, visit the Design Center and the Design Bookshelf for all the new incoming content this month. If you decide to visit the Publishers’ Warehouse,
