Illustrator is inspired by the Westcountry
Even as a girl growing up in her beloved Bridgwater, doodling-dotty Angie Spurgeon had designs on a career in art. A big fan of television’s legendary artist Tony Hart and his plasticine sidekick Morph, the talented youngster liked nothing better than to draw and colour in her creations on any available scraps of paper. Royal College of Art releases GraphicsRCA: Fifty Years book
The publication, GraphicsRCA: Fifty Years and Beyond, was designed by RCA graduates 27-year-old Antonio Bertossi and 31-year-old Esa Matinvesi, and edited by Teal Triggs, Adrian Shaughnessy and Anna Gerber. It includes commissioned essays by graphic designers including Mike Dempsey and Shaughnessy, and interviews with past students, such as actor Alan Rickman, and staff members. The book also includes artwork, including poster designs, installations and digital experiments. It has a gatefold cover, and foldout inner pages. jean jullien is a french graphic designer currently living in london. he comes from nantes and did a graphic design degree in quimper before moving to london. Jean writes : I get to draw for a living everyday and to work on incredibly exciting projects. I also get to chose how I want to spend my time and how much commercial and personal work I want to do. Ten Questions for: Fernando Gutiérrez
Fernando Gutiérrez set up Studio Fernando Gutiérrez in 2006 following six years as a Pentagram partner. He has previously worked for CDT and Summa and co-founded Spanish consutlancy Grafica. Artists launch street sculpture exhibit program
Aubrey Booska and Michele Genuario, have developed a Stratford Street Sculpture program where businesses can sponsor benches that will be displayed and utilized around town next summer before being auctioned off for charity. The two, art teachers in Stratford Public Schools who are working as private citizens, stand here with the bench that they helped to create for display in Stamford last summer. The Stratford Street Sculpture exhibit called Share A Chair will consists of multiple artist-designed Adirondack benches placed around the town next summer. The Coffee Officina is a London-based, coffee roasting company that recently commissioned Morse Studio to create a full brand identity including logotype, print collateral, packaging and a content-managed, e-commerce website, optimised for mobile and tablet devices.
