Many of you already know that my ‘hobby’ is producing a weekly newsletter for the User Group Network. It started in the early days of Compuserve and continues today … every Monday morning since 1987. Since I put a lot of time into researching these articles — and since Google is penalizing me for posting the same article to both sites, I’m just linking you over to UGNN for these articles. Lots of fun there; enjoy!

Thanksgiving

According to various historic accounts, the first permanent settlement of Jamestown, Virginia held a thanksgiving gathering as early as 1610. Americans commonly trace the Thanksgiving holiday to a 1621 celebration at the Plymouth Plantation, where the Plymouth, Massachusetts settlers held a harvest feast after a successful growing season. Whatever the origin, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of “Thanksgiving” for the last Thursday in November. So here we are, 150 years later about to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.
