Surprise: Marketers want more Google+

Despite the low turnout on Google +, marketers want to learn more about how to use the social media platform effectively, according to the 2012 Social Media Marketing Industry Report.
      A surprising number of those surveyed ‘ 70% ‘ said they want to learn more about Google +, despite the fact that only 40% are currently using it.

Integrating social media in direct marketing campaigns

Many marketers are incorporating social media into their integrated marketing campaigns to complement other efforts such as direct mail, print marketing and digital communications.
      One way social media has influenced direct marketing is by enabling direct interactions with customers. Direct mail pieces can be sent with QR codes and links to social media sites, where customers can share feedback and interact with the brand directly. This also offers marketers another avenue through which to promote products and discounts, Business 2 Community reported.

How to Take Real Advantage of LinkedIn Company Pages

Associations and other organizations can increase their opportunities to network with members, potential members, vendors, and customers through a well-developed presence on LinkedIn, says Stephanie Sammons, CEO of Wired Advisor, a blogging and social media platform for financial professionals.
      LinkedIn has updated its company pages to help organizations become more engaged. For example, organizations can update their individual company pages to allow followers to receive updates and insights about job opportunities, organizational news, and more. However, these are far from the only kinds of updates that an association can post on its company page. “Think about this as a brand-new opportunity to showcase your thought leadership,” Sammons says.
