2008 Mod Of The Year

based on creativity, difficulty, and functionality

MacMod, in partnership with iFixit, has announced the Mod of the Year award for 2008. This award is given to the Mac-related modification that best captures the imagination of a panel of judges who must rate it based on creativity, difficulty, and functionality. This year the Mod of the Year is a pre-AGP Macintosh hacked to run Leopard.

First Place: Mod of The Year
Leopard hacked to run on pre-AGP Macintosh
Excerpt: "My mod challenge was to get Leopard running on the old Beige G3, B&W G3 (with G4 upgrade) and Yikes! G4 computers, but I ended up getting it running on a PowerMac 8500!"

Runner Up:
Black Anodized iPhone Custom
Excerpt: "The iPhone Custom process took over a month of hard work to complete the first device. That first device received so much positive attention that a manufacturing company was commissioned for a small scale, limited edition, production run."

Second Runner Up:
MacMidi - Re-cased Powerbook Ti
Excerpt: "After a few years of hard use everyday, my Ti Powerbook eventually developed a screen fault and collected some new knocks and scratches. It seemed a shame to throw out such a tough old machine because of a screen problem. So I decided to join the case modding fraternity."

Special thanks go out to the sponsors that made the 2007 Challenge possible:
* iFixit
* Booq
* Griffin Technology
* Speck
* Hosting Outfitters
