Call for Entries: Graphis Design Annual 2015
Graphis, The International Journal of Visual Communication, was first published in 1944 by Dr. Walter Amstutz and Walter Herdeg in Zurich, Switzerland. Graphis presented the work of fine artists and illustrators, as well as highlighting the formative years of graphic design as we know it today. Advertising and photography were also featured, and Amstutz selectively chose what he felt to be the best talent of the time, with the Graphis Annual introduced in 1952.
The deadline for the Design Annual 2015 is April 2, 2014, with entry information and a gallery of the current entries available on the Graphis site. Some of the winners from the 2014 Design competition are shown below.

Graphic designer Peter Saville still rocks the fashion world
Fashion finds it difficult to get over Peter Saville. References abound to his work, past and present. His aesthetic stamp chimes constantly with fashion's offerings. That's because Saville isn't just fashionable.
His work is a style unto itself. He's the original. In Factory cataloguing lingo, Saville would be FAC-0.

Getting a job in digital marketing (A graduate’s perspective)
fter three years of hard work, student accommodation and late-night library sessions, last summer I graduated from the University of Lincoln and prepared myself to enter the world of work.
With a degree in Graphic Design under my belt, and terms spent learning web design, creating infographics and mastering Adobe Creative Suite, I was eager to break into the digital marketing industry.

Colborne graphic artist wins ParaSport Games medal design contest
With a design titled 'Strive for the Top,' Mike Bahm has won the medal design competition for the upcoming 2014 Ontario ParaSport Games.
A graphic artist from Colborne, Mr. Bahm’s design addresses the games theme by depicting three independent, upward-moving arrows, representing participants striving to rise to the top, or "raise the bar."

Stumbled into the profession of graphic design
Dean Justice acknowledges he kind of stumbled into the profession of graphic design after buying a computer on QVC with a simple version of Adobe Photoshop.
Then a friend from Atlanta who is a designer took him under his wing, so to speak, and taught him the intricacies of using colors and shapes and techniques to make a business card or brochure pop out and catch customers' eyes.
