. . . . . . . Mark has designed a sparkling new font that's remotly familiar to Friz Quadrata or the earlier "Albertus" font. He fashioned it to closely resemble the font used in the cult TV classic "The Prisoner," created by and starring Patrick McGoohan. Since the letterforms are mostly based on the "Albertus" typeface, Village takes on an unmistakable mediaeval flavor, with its distinctive lowercase character cuts. Heinman took some liberties though, shaping the lowercase "e" more like an open, epsilon-style "e" than the traditional character. Amazingly enough the dot has been removed from the lowercase "i" and "j" -- a unique twist indeed! . Here (at right) we compare the lower case 'a' with that of Goudy's Bertham font. Note the heavy chiseled, half-wedge terminal, the hint of a serif at the flared ends, and the distinctive square counter area that marks Village as unmistakably of Albertus lineage. . Download this font in the Publishers' Warehouse and be sure to read the documentation. It tells of some juicy alternate characters hidden where you're not likely to find them on your own.
