Totally Tubular Typography
We ran across Jamie Stinson in this year's surf ... he's a Live Communications Professional : Creative Advocate : Design Dabbler. Jamie has accumulated a blog full of cool typography works . . . and he writes :
If there is one part of Graphic Design that I love, it really has to be Typography, it is a real art form and its variation, malleability and formation is essentially limitless. Here is a gallery of 50 or so typographic wonders, some old, some new, some accidental, on purpose and some in Arabic. After spending some time in the middle east, I really developed a love for Arabic Calligraphy, it is truly beautiful and the artists that wield their magical brush strokes are truly masters.

NEXT: More Ampersands embossing, stuffed and food
It was just under 25 years ago when DT&G got that lucious Caslon italic Ampersand put between the T and the G. Of course the logo stood for "Design, Typography & Graphics" -- and everyone loved that ampersand so much we began to use it as our 'mascot' letter or symbol. But I never would have expected the ampersand to become so popular. I used it because it was so beautiful, and a million others thought so too. It turns up everywhere. . . .

The Merge : Stuffed Ampersand
Tyler Lemermeyer didn't put his name on his "about" page. But anyway, he's doing some interesting stuff including making stuffed stuff -- including stuffed ampersands. Hmmmm Tyler writes :
I have been making stuffed monsters lately and I began to think about creating stuffed type. I thought for my first attempt I would create a stuffed ampersand. This is one of my favorite characters of type and it almost goes completely unnoticed
