Tip #86 - An Egg in Photoshop...

[ How do I create an egg shape in my drawing program?

Easter just around the corner, the annual question will arise...

A little logic...

Using the oval tool, hold down the shift key, and draw yourself a circle.
Now use your transform or edit tools (depending on what program you're using) to modify the drawing in PERSPECTIVE.

Using the TOP handles, send them slightly to the rear. There you have an egg shape. (Now rotate to get the egg in the position you want.) You may have to tweak the top and bottom handles until you get a shape you like.
Now you can carry on, filling the egg or decorating with whatever color you want. If you're making Easter eggs, we suggest adding decorations before the perspective step. You may also want to use the "sperize" filter in Photoshop (or whatever plug-in supporting program you use) to give a "roundness" to the egg.

Interesting sidebar: I was intrigued by my photography instructor's assertion that "the egg is the hardest object to photograph." I spent countless rolls of film and lab processing paper trying to ponder that assertion. Only after much experimentation did I discover he was right -- and the reason why. Do you know why?
