DT&G Gallery visits unique Design Consultant

Varshesh Joshi

This month we take a cruise out to Bangalore, India, where Varshesh Joshi performs Art and Design for all media in extraordinary ways.
      Varshesh has been involved in Illustration, graphic design, web (flash) animation, interaction design and photography for just a few short years, but when we saw the first sample we knew this studio deems a closer look.
      Working as freelance art director for Web and Print media, Varshesh started as a concept artist for MindTree Consulting Pvt. Ltd. He was charged with creating unique user experiences for web based applications. This included conceptualizing and executing creative strategies, information and navigation architectures and graphic interfaces. The experience at MindTree armed Varshesh with a unique visual vocabulary for creating brand identities, information design for web and wireless applications.
      From MindTree, Varshesh went to Planetasia.com where his skills in conceptualising and designing user interfaces, information flows and flash animations for web sites came to task. There, he has also been working with an expert team of instruction designers to develop world class 'Web Based Training' (WBT) programs.

Variety of experience

Varshesh has applied his craft to such clients as Globosport, Franklin-Templeton, Titan-World, Prudential Asia, Stanley Works, Hindustantimes, Mentorix, SmithKline Beecham, BPL, Digital India, Biocon among others.

Digital Vision

While many might suggest his art is reminiscent of the famous artist Nagel, Varshesh's strong education in engineering brings a crisp, hard edge and structure to his art -- a refreshing departure from much of the muddled Photoshop art we see today. This kind of precision is evidence of his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (1992-96) from Barkatullah University, Bhopal, India.
      Varshesh's formal education doesn't end in Bhopal however. He holds a Master of Design in Visual Communication (1997-99) from the Industrial Design Centre, at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India.

Scope

We caught up with Varshesh in his studio to find it updated with all the latest software tools available for graphic design and web presentation.
      He has positioned himself to obviously be adaptable to use any software to produce powerful results. He uses Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand (for illustration and design composition) and works in multimedia using Macromedia Flash, Cool Edit and Sound Forge. His web development relies on Macromedia Dreamweaver and a myriad of other softwares to round out the the picture.
