I don’t very often pick up on products like this — but when it do, it’s a lot of fun to project the creative idea potential! This one’s got creativity written all over it — aside from a nightlight, it’s your own drive-in theater!
Here’s a gizmo I ran across that is intended for a kid’s night light. But I got to thinking, how much fun it might be to design images for this specific purpose — not necessarily for kids! That got me thinking!
While it’s a great creative idea-starter, it’s also a good idea for sending kids off to dreamland, and actually make them look forward to going to bed rather than rile against it night after night. Created by Zapporoo and available at no cost, Night Lamp App is a simple and easy-to-use app that displays a kid-friendly image, such as a beloved animated character, favorite place, cherished photo, landscape scene and so on, in one of two ways:
* Splashed across a bedroom’s walls, floor and ceiling by using an iPhone projector.
* Featured in high resolution on the iPhone’s screen.
The app can be pre-loaded with several images, which lets parents (or parents and children together) choose the one that is most suitable in a matter of seconds.
What’s more, unlike conventional night lights that stay lit throughout the night – and can therefore disrupt sleep duration and quality – Night Lamp App 1.0 has a built-in timer that lets parents choose when the app should auto-lock or shut down. Settings include: 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, 120 minutes, 150 minutes and 200 minutes. While all parents will appreciate this handy shut-down feature, it will be especially valued by parents of kids who are afraid of the dark.
