Our annual Black History Month surf takes us to the far ends of the cyberworld to find some exciting new and memorable talent! This is a continuing series, so we welcome your input and participation

Black History Each year we like to take a look at outstanding contributions to art and design from the black community. This year we have an all-new crop, and we’ve fixed some of the broken links from years past.

Lots of very nice illustrations of famous Black Jazz and Sports celebrities. Many are illustrated for Black History Month … there are a bunch of them…
      Shane Evans, 36, is the Kansas City, Mo., artist whose work has accompanied the monthlong Black History Month profile series in The Chronicle’s Datebook section. To date, Evans has illustrated 30 children’s books, including the critically praised titles “Bintou’s Braids,” “Osceola: Memories of a Sharecropper’s Daughter” and “No More! Stories and Songs of Slave Resistance.”

Black History Month celebrations at Fairleigh Dickinson University
      Founded in 1942 by Dr. Peter Sammartino and his wife, Sylvia (Sally), Fairleigh Dickinson University has grown into the largest private university in New Jersey. Today, more than 12,000 students from 32 states and 72 countries are enrolled on the University’s two campuses in northern New Jersey and its international campuses in Wroxton, England and Vancouver, Canada.
